Martika - "Toy Soldiers"

As the Adult Contemporary format evolved during the 1990s, many stations started doing an "80s at 8" feature and devoted an hour to 80s music (genius!).  I worked as a board operator at one such AC station that did an "80s @ 8" feature.  The show was entirely voice tracked (meaning the DJ taped her show in advance and I simply played her breaks over the songs).  It was an enjoyable experience working the "80s @ 8" show because it meant I got to hear music that didn't get played frequently.  Somehow I had an unfortunate streak in which each time I worked the "80s @ 8", Martika's "Toy Soldiers" played.  I had never heard of the song before and immediately grew to dislike the song.
