When in Rome "The Promise"

You know "The Promise" from When in Rome. The band or song name might not ring a bell, but when you hear it...you'll immediately think of tetherball. Specifically, the closing scene from Napoleon Dynamite that featured the Brit-pop tune while Napoleon and Deb shared a game of tetherball. The phrase "When in Rome" would later become one of Ron Burgundy's catchphrases in Anchorman.

The 2004 cult independent film Napoleon Dynamite introduced "The Promise" to a whole new legion of fans. The Brit-Pop group When in Rome originally turned the song into a hit in 1988.

Alphaville - "Forever Young"

Episodes of One Tree Hill, Parks & Recreation, and 30 Rock have all featured Alphaville's "Forever Young", yet many will quickly recall the high school dance scene in Napoleon Dynamite when they hear this song.  Despite being released three separate times, the song never once cracked the Top 40.
