Kenny G's first big break was when Artista Records executive Clive Davis heard Kenny G perform a sax solo of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" in 1982. He went on to be the biggest-selling instrumental artist of all-time and now sells his own brand of saxophones.

Whitney Houston - "Where Do Broken Hearts Go?"

Whitney Houston didn't want to record "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" despite Clive Davis' urging.  As CEO of Artista Records, Davis played a huge hand in launching Whitney's career during the 1980s, so his opinions carried plenty of weight.  Whitney eventually acquiesced and made Davis' decision look good.  The song became her fourth #1 hit from her Whitney album--a record unmatched by any other female artist.
