Goo Goo Dolls "Slide"

The rock band with the weird name ruled the radio during the latter half of the '90s.  Along with "Name" and "Iris", the Goo Goo Dolls gave radio stations something else to spin when their Dizzy Up the Girl album produced the hit "Slide" in 1998.  The upbeat tune hit #1 on multiple charts including the Hot 100, Modern Rock, Mainstream Top 40, and Adult Top 40 Charts.

U2 "With or Without You"

Despite the fact U2 has sold tens of millions of albums and has a lead singer who is universally loved for his voice and his philanthropic efforts, U2 rarely found success on the Adult Contemporary Chart.  "With or Without You", for example, only managed to peak at #23 in 1987.

FireHouse - "I Live My Life for You"

FireHouse established themselves with the monster ballad "Love of a Lifetime" in 1991.  That song wasn't their only foray onto the Adult Contemporary Chart.  It happened again in 1995 when "I Live My Life for You" charted.

Train - "Calling All Angels"

When you think about rock bands, does Train ever come to mind?  Well, someone apparently thought of the San Franciso band.  "Calling All Angels" managed to re-define the word "rock" and helped garner two Grammy nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group in 2003.  Train lost both awards to Bruce Springsteen and The White Stripes, respectively.
