Phil Collins, Elton John, and Gloria Estefan dominated Adult Contemporary radio back in the 1980s and '90s, yet have disappeared from modern radio. Seemingly, the only time you ever hear them is at the grocery store or your local CVS. This blog remembers the music, the stories and the quirky characters from my days working in Adult Contemporary radio.

Michael Bolton - "Soul Provider"
TRUE or FALSE
1. "Soul Provider" by Michael Bolton sounds like it came right out of 1989.
2. Michael Bolton once asked me to shoot baskets with him.
ANSWERS:
1. True. "Soul Provider" encapsulated the sound of Adult Contemporary radio from 1988-89. You can almost picture yourself walking through a K-Mart while the song blasts through the loudspeaker.
2. True. Bolton was a guest on a morning show I produced in 2002. What I remember from that morning is that Michael was wearing leather pants and talked about how his hotel had a basketball court. He added that I should check it out which I translated to "Michael Bolton definitely asked me to shoot some hoops."
