Expose "As Long as I Can Dream"

What comes to mind when you think about your recurring dreams? Maybe it's that dream when your teeth fall out or the one where you're back in school and have to take a test for something you haven't studied. Those two dreams immediately come to mind for me. Aside from those, I have this recurring dream that I'm back working as a Classified Sales Manager at the former Dog World Magazine in a position I held from 1999 until early-2002. In that entry-level role, each month I'd mail out renewal contracts to our annual advertisers of the classified section of the magazine. This contract would lock them into the lowest rate ($12/month) for a 20-word ad. For whatever reason, I still have this dream (nightmare?) where I forgot to mail the contracts and I'm frantically going through my list of advertisers (there were about 1,100 of them) and calling each one to see if they want to run their ad(s). Seeing as I haven't worked there in nearly 17 years, I'm curious why this dream still plays in my brain.

Expose "Your Baby Never Looked Good in Blue"

Every streak must come to an end. For the pop group Expose, their string of seven consecutive Top 10 singles ended in 1990 with "Your Baby Never Looked Good in Blue". The song only managed to peak at #17 (#9 on the Adult Contemporary Chart). When you come up with a song title like that, does anyone really expect it to be a hit?

Expose - "Come Go With Me"

How often does the entire lineup of a band turn over and success follows?  It happened with Expose in 1986.  The original three members of the trio exited the band and were replaced with three new members who re-recorded the vocals of "Point of No Return" and "Exposed to Love" (hits for the band in 1985).  Their debut album also produced a third single, "Come Go With Me", which became a Top 10 hit in 1987.

Expose - "Seasons Change"

Expose's biggest hit, "Seasons Change", has nothing to do with the seasons.  But rather it's a ballad that touches on how relationships change.  If the background vocals in this song tell you anything ("I want you!"), it's the woman here who is missing the way things used to be with the man.  She is not adjusting well to life in the present and yearns for better days from the past.  And, yes, the song isn't complete without the requisite 1980s sax solo.

Expose - "I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me)"

Breakups happen.  Accepting and then dealing with the breakup is the first step toward recovery.  The next step is arguably one of the toughest.  It's the punch in the gut when you learn that your ex has moved on and is dating someone new.  You immediately pick that person apart and express shock to anyone who will listen that he or she is any (or all) of the following adjectives: fat, trashy, ugly.  Expose found a way to express this heartbreak with their #1 "I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me)".
