Phil Collins, Elton John, and Gloria Estefan dominated Adult Contemporary radio back in the 1980s and '90s, yet have disappeared from modern radio. Seemingly, the only time you ever hear them is at the grocery store or your local CVS. This blog remembers the music, the stories and the quirky characters from my days working in Adult Contemporary radio.

Celine Dion - "To Love You More"
Originally recorded in 1993, Celine Dion's "To Love You More" became an instant hit in Japan in 1995. More than three years later in 1998, the song was released in the States. By that time, "To Love You More" took a seat behind the other Dion power ballads ("The Power of Love" and The Titanic hit "My Heart Will Go On") in Celine's arsenal of hits. To further complicate things, Adult Contemporary radio stations played an edited and watered-down version of "To Love You More" that removed the strings and shortened the drawn-out (yet explosive) ending. Perhaps the record company execs spent too much time in Japan and were tired of hearing the song. This is one of the rare cases where the album version sounds better than the radio edit.
