Noticing a war movie playing on our giant console television, I asked, "What's it called?"
"A Bridge Too Far," my dad responded.
The 1977 film highlighted the struggles of the Allies to break German lines during World War II. In other words, a film intended for mature audiences (I was probably 7 or 8 years old at the time, so I'm not sure why my Dad thought I'd like it).
Instead of going outside and playing, I sat down and watched all the while wondering why my dad believed I would like that particular movie. I gave it about 30 minutes before finally working up the courage to tell my dad that I didn't like the movie and wanted to go back outside to play.
