Howard Jones - "Things Can Only Get Better"

We've established that Howard Jones has an identity crisis.  With a handful of hits during the 1980s, you would think people would know who Howard Jones is.  In fact, Howard still tours today.  Howard's success (in part) is because his sound was so familiar with other 1980s Brit Pop bands.  For years, I always believed "Things Can Only Get Better" was sung by Duran Duran--not Howard Jones.  (That's a compliment, by the way.)  Yet, when the song charted in 1985, it also found success on the R&B chart--something unheard of for a white British singer back then.  If anything, we all should know who Howard Jones is.

Howard Jones - "Everlasting Love"

Let's play a game called "Name One Song by Howard Jones".  What's that?  You want to know who Howard Jones is?  I suppose that makes sense seeing as you could hear "Everlasting Love" and immediately think it was some one-hit-wonder British act.  But, no, Howard Jones actually strung together a handful of hits in the 1980s that should have considerably elevated his status.  We'll explore more from Howard Jones in the coming weeks.

Howard Jones - "No One Is To Blame"

"No One Is To Blame" by Howard Jones perfectly summed up a relationship I wasn't in during my mid-20s. The voice inside my head told me to run while my heart allowed her in. She was physically available, but emotionally unavailable.  She told me she loved me, but couldn't accept my love. She pulled me in while she pushed me away. In the end, I spent about nine years trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Want to know more of this heartbreaking love song? Cue up Howard Jones' #1 song.
