Phil Collins, Elton John, and Gloria Estefan dominated Adult Contemporary radio back in the 1980s and '90s, yet have disappeared from modern radio. Seemingly, the only time you ever hear them is at the grocery store or your local CVS. This blog remembers the music, the stories and the quirky characters from my days working in Adult Contemporary radio.

Gregory Abbott "Shake You Down"
This is a real message from my friend Matt. He certainly knows who to ask when he has a bad music-related question. He's inquiring about "Shake You Down" from Gregory Abbott. His 1986 ballad with lyrics written by a drunken teenager hit #2 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.

Gregory Abbott - "Shake You Down"
Gregory Abbott's "Shake You Down" is the poor man's version of "Let's Get It On". Why? It contains the following lyrics:
Eenie, meenie, minie, moe (you read my mind)
Come on, girl, let's start the show (girl, I wanna shake you down)
Aah, yeah (I can give you all the loving you need)
Roses are red and violets are blue
I'm gonna rock this town for you (come on, let me take you down)
Hey, baby (we'll go all the way to heaven)
