Paula Cole "Me"

Twenty-one years before Taylor Swift, Paula Cole released the ballad "Me". MTV and VH1 gave Paula's "Me" a bit of exposure, but nothing like what Taylor Swift got from her April 26th release of "Me!".

Paula Cole "I Don't Want to Wait"

Despite serving as the theme song for The WB's teen drama Dawson Creek, Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait" managed to set a record for most consecutive weeks on the Top 50 without cracking the Top 10. The song also managed to set another record: it's one of 32 songs in history to remain on the charts for 50 weeks ("I Don't Want to Wait" charted for 56 weeks). 

Dido "Here With Me"

Dido's "Here With Me" got a nice push from The WB television network when their sci-fi drama Roswell used "Here With Me" for its theme song. The network also used Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Wanna Be" and Paula Cole's "I Don't Wanna Wait" as theme songs to their other network shows. The popularity of Dido's follow up single, "Thank You", also helped boost airplay for "Here With Me" which was released before "Thank You". If anyone still didn't know who the heck Dido was, Eminem helped make her a household name with his song "Stan".

Edwin McCain - "I'll Be"

Paula Cole's "I Don't Wanna Wait" isn't the only song to trigger flashbacks of Dawson's Creek.  Edwin McCain's "I'll Be" also featured prominently in Season 1 of the former-WB's first breakout hit drama.

Paula Cole - "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?"

Paula Cole won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1998 and is known for two songs: one of them was used as the theme song for the teen drama "Dawson's Creek" and the other asked the question we've all silently wondered: "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?".  The song won Paula multiple Grammy awards including Song of the Year and Record of the Year, but the image of her hairy armpits during a 1998 Saturday Night Live appearance will forever haunt my dreams. Yippie ya, yippie yay.
