Seal "Crazy"

Seal found a home on Adult Contemporary radio in 1995 thanks to "Kiss From A Rose", yet his first hit, "Crazy", happened a handful of years earlier in 1991. "Crazy" drew inspiration from the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Seal - "Love's Divine"

There was once a time when album titles mattered (although some would argue they still matter).  Classic album titles such as Rumours from Fleetwood Mac or Michael Jackson's Thriller immediately come to my mind as both albums sit on the list of top selling albums in history.  I'm sure these folks sat through extensive meetings with record company executives over what the title of the album should be.  I'd also guess these meetings weren't fun and sucked the fun out of the whole process.  In the case of Seal, he just said f*ck it and simply named the majority of his albums Seal.  "Love's Divine" came courtesy of Seal IV.

Seal - "Kiss From A Rose"

Name the song that Seal was so embarrassed by that he threw it into the corner after originally writing it in the early-1990s.  Well, that song happens to be Seal's biggest hit and the reason he became a household name: "Kiss From A Rose".  It certainly helped that the producers of Batman Forever added the tune to the movie's soundtrack.

Melissa Manchester - "Walk on By"

"Walk on By" was originally done by Dionne Warwick, but numerous other artists have taken their turn with the song.  Isaac Hayes, Seal, and Cyndi Lauper recorded their own respective versions, but it was Melissa Manchester who took the song to the Top 10 in 1989.  In her version, Manchester holds a note for nearly 14 seconds with the lyric "Walk on"...

Anthony David - "Something About You"

While sitting at my neighborhood Walgreens one rainy spring evening, a familiar song played over the loudspeaker.  I immediately recognized the song was "Something About You", but I didn't know the man's voice singing.  He almost sounded like Seal.  One quick trip to Google revealed the singer's name was R&B singer Anthony David (whose name sounds like a place you would go to get your hair done).  While the Cary Brothers successfully remade this song, add Anthony David's name to artists who also remade the '80s song without ruining it.

Before his very successful "Kiss From A Rose", there was "Prayer for The Dying"...Seal's first single from his 1994 CD (properly) entitled Seal.
