After Bad English flamed out, John Waite went back to his solo career. Waite's solo effort Temple Bar produced the minor Adult Contemporary hit "How Do I Get By Without You?" in 1995.

John Waite's "Missing You" proved to be his breakthrough song during the mid-80s.  Waite later scored a #1 hit with the power ballad "When I See You Smile"--this time with the group Bad English.
