Bon Jovi "Who Says You Can't Go Home"

Bon Jovi made sure everyone heard his 2005 song "Who Says You Can't Go Home". His plan for worl dominance consisted of recording a rock and country version of his upbeat tune. Jon recruited Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland for her vocal services in the country version. The song(s) proved to be so popular both on the radio and off; Republicans even used it in 2008 at events to support Vice Presidential-nominee Sarah Palin. Since they used it without permission, Bon Jovi ordered them to stop and then went on to perform at rallies in support of presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Huey Lewis & The News "Perfect World"

Huey Lewis' career extended well past 1988, yet that was the last year the pop-rock band charted a Top 10 single.  Huey and the boys did it with the brassy and reggae-filled song "Perfect World" -- a song that peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 (#2 on the Adult Contemporary Chart).  

Michael Bolton - "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?"

After years of being a songwriter, Michael Bolton's big break came when he decided to sing a song he had co-written.  In 1983, Bolton and Doug James wrote "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" for Air Supply, but it was Laura Branigan who turned it into a hit.  Bolton recorded his own solo version of the song in 1989, and it launched his career.  The song won Bolton a Grammy and signaled the beginning of a decade of ruling the Adult Contemporary format with his signature pop rock ballads and trademark long hair.
