Taylor Dayne "Can't Get Enough of Your Love"

Who dared to remake the classic Barry White song "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Baby"? None other than '80s pop singer Taylor Dayne. She actually dropped the word "babe" from the title and released it in 1993. This marked her last appearance on the Top 40 Chart.

Taylor Dayne "With Every Beat of My Heart"

Before she was Taylor Dayne (whose real name is Leslie Wunderman), she also released a couple dance singles in the mid-80s using the name "Les Lee". Fast-forward to 1989 and Wunderman (as Taylor Dayne) produced the hit "With Every Beat of My Heart".

Company B - "Fascinated"

At first listen, you may credit "Fascinated" to Taylor Dayne.  The female vocals certainly sound like Taylor, but credit the group Company B for the synth and drum machine heavy freestyle song.  The catchy tune found a home at nightclubs and Top 40 radio in 1987.

Taylor Dayne - "Heart of Stone"

It was October of 2004 and our radio station was just days from flipping from the current '80s & '90s format to an Urban Oldies format.  Before that happened, we had a major Halloween promotion planned with hundreds of our listeners at a local nightclub.  Headlining the evening was the ageless Taylor Dayne (she replaced Colin Haye who dropped out at the last minute--maybe he got the memo about the impending format flip?).  The entire airstaff knew we were all a few days away from getting fired (a commonality in the business, unfortunately), so we did what any employee would do: got rip-roarin' drunk and marveled at how good Taylor Dayne sounded.

Taylor Dayne - "I'll Be Your Shelter"

Long before becoming a staple at Pride festivals throughout the country, Taylor Dayne produced hit after hit on pop radio.  One song that many people mistook as being called "Na Na Na Na Na Na" was actually titled "I'll Be Your Shelter."  Originally penned for Tina Turner, Taylor took the song to #15 on the Adult Contemporary Chart in 1990 (#4 on the Hot 100).  The tune featured budding star Kathy Troccoli on backup vocals.

Taylor Dayne - "Love Will Lead You Back"

Rock stars all have cool names (with the exception of Gordon Lightfoot).  Taylor Dayne is no exception.  How many people do you know named Taylor?  None, right?  Well, neither is Taylor Dayne.  Her real name is Leslie Wunderman.  With a name that sounds more like your middle school science teacher, she needed a name makeover.  I think Taylor Dayne works.

Kathy Troccoli - "Everything Changes"

Turn up Kathy Troccoli's "Everything Changes" and you might think you were listening to a Taylor Dayne song, but no.  Kathy was well-known and quite successful in the Christian music scene long before "Everything Changes" hit Top 40 radio in 1991.  Fun fact: Troccoli was actually one of Taylor Dayne's backup singers to the 1989 hit "I'll Be Your Shelter".
